Pastor Adeboye Messages

J.O. Obayemi was named a new General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. The successor was named ahead to the 75th birthday of Pastor Adeboye. The new overseer of the Church is the former Special Assistant to the General Overseer in France.

Pastor Adeboye also announced the new Secretary – Pastor Johnson Odesola. Pastor Adeyokunnu was also appointed as Church Treasurer. Pastor Adeboye provides a basis for new people to command in the church.

Still, it's not totally clarified from the church representatives how the retirement process will actually go. Special Assistant to Pastor Adeboye informed that the Church Constitution does not obligate General Overseers to retire when they are older than seventy.

Lekke Adeboye also explained that his father will stay the General Overseer of RCCG on the WorldWide level. According to Lekke Adeboye, the main misrepresentation of Pastor Adeboye's retirement was made by the press.

However, on the paper the Church will be led by Pastor Joseph Obayemi. The main reason for the retirement of Pastor Adeboye is the new legal requirements of the Financial Regulations Council. These regulations stipulate all heads of the churches to lead their churches no more than 20 years. At the same time, these heads of the churches can't transfer their power to the family members.

Therefore, this statement forced Pastor Adboye to retire. The same statement was provided when Pastor Funsho Odesola had to retire.
