Some Crazy Fashion You Need to See from AFROPUNK Joburg 2017

Serving up some fierce style inspo

With street style looks as fierce as the headliners, this year’s AFROPUNK music fest, that took place in Joburg, said one fashionable goodbye to 2017.

Here’s Who Made Our Style Highlights List and Why We’re Taking Notes from Them:

Why match your bag (with your belt and/or shoes) when you can grab your bestie and outfit co-ordinate. This African textile packs a punch with its bold tones and graphic print.

Cool ‘n casual with a touch of ‘80s downtown (and all the attitude to make their OOTD that much extra).

An all black look with utility inspired accents in the form of a leather waist bag and buckled sliders.

Embracing our South African heritage with fun Shweshwe inspired fabric.

A graphic crop top + sporty moon bag + flatform sliders make for a look we’d like to call ‘Normcore Glam’.

This polished AF all-black look with gold accents makes us reminisce of Gucci’s ‘Geek Chic’ inspired SS’16 collection.

This is evidence that a pair of fab OTT statement shoes can be the superhero of your OOTD.

Accessorised to perfection with bohemian inspired gold jewellery that makes us think of a ‘warrior princess’.

The new (and cooler) generation of ‘reworked denim’ looks something like this.

Spotted: Two items on our 2018 style wishlist – chic leather loafers and a boldly striped cover up.

We love how this ladylike ensemble, complete with a crushed velvet dress and pearl drop earrings, gets juxtaposed with these strappy sporty sandals.

Layering done right in the form of a turquoise polo neck jacket under a pair of chic dungarees.

Because twinsets are the new one-pieces. We love her head wrap and large hooped earrings.

Crisp white done right and complete with Kurt Cobain inspired sunnies and stylish side-stripe pants.

Ever since the ’80s inspired anorak made a reappearance last year – we’ve been a fan. Especially when worn oversized and with a sporty feel.

A chic athleisure-inspired look complete with a slick baseball cap and Suprememoon bag.

With an A+ for originality, this tribal inspired look, with beaded fringing. gives us all the feels.

Sheer elements and bare shoulders will remain on our style radar this year.

We can just imagine the Boomerang one could nail with this look! From the print, to the voluminous pants – this look is goals.

When you take athleisure and add different elements to it, like African inspired fabric or subtle florals, this is what you get.

Never did we meet a graphic stripe that we didn’t like.

Why be a wallflower when you can stand out in juicy tones and punchy prints?

This tribal inspired headdress adds an exciting dynamic to this fun look.

A statement tee and mesh vest make for a winning bestie look.

From the pom-pom earrings and head band to the Fila tee and electric blue skirt, this look caught our eye in a split second.

When more is more, and it works to create style magic.
